Which reads chingu (pronounced ching-goo) is the Korean translation to friend. I'm not going to diary my self out today. I will be talking about a new single by Big Bang that just recently released. The song isn't sung by all five members of Big Bang, but only T.O.P and Taeyang. The song is for the original soundtrack of a new drama called Friend, Our Legend. The drama stars Hyun Bin. What I've read is that the drama is a remake of the popular South Korean movie, Chingu. I've been hearing the movie is very good and is considered one of the best South Korean movies ever. I haven't watched it myself, though I want to.
Anyways, I'm not here to talk about the drama, but the song itself. Even though recently I have been crazy over FT Island, I still can't let go of the first Korean boy band I loved: Big Bang. The song Friend is good, and that's what I expect for them. Catchy, if I might add. T.O.P, who is the big rapper of the group, "sings" with the help of a vocoder. I am quite disappointed because I want to hear him sing more than one line. Not going to happen. His rapping is cool, but it's not to the max. I've heard him rap so much cooler. Taeyang's singing is exceptionally well, of course. His voice is not "messed up" because, well, no one really wants to mess up a really good voice, right? Except for the end where his voice is played with a little. Now, for T.O.P, please stay away from the vocoder. I love the way he raps and with a vocoder is just weird. The song is also co-written by T.O.P! Good for him! The other co-writer is none other than 1TYM's Teddy. He writes quite a few of Big Bang's songs (if G-Dragon isn't writing). They make a great team! I will be looking forward to many great works in the future.
Now about their Japanese single, My Heaven. It's the Japanese remake of their Korean song, Heaven from their 3rd mini album, Stand Up. I loved Heaven, but for some weird reasons, I don't really like the Japanese remake. Maybe because of the different language or something? I don't know, but I definitely liked Heaven more.
Moving on to the second track, Emotions. It's a cool song with the hip-hop beat that they usually use. I'm not saying it's bad because it's not. Is it catchy? Not really. But it's a good song to dance to. I wonder if they will dance to this. I have to say Emotions is better than My Heaven. I love the rap between G-Dragon and T.O.P. Even though it's only like 5 seconds. But they make a great rap team. In parts of the song, you could hear T.O.P's bass voice in the back. That's something I like to hear. Don't know why.
That is all the review for this post. It's a bad review because, well, I'm a bad reviewer myself. But nevertheless, I like Big Bang. Doesn't make sense. As a fan, I can't wait until they come back in a big bang. So cliche but that should work.
